Crossing the stunning moorlands of North Yorkshire and through beautiful forests to the dramatic heritage coastline, the Moor to Sea cycle route links the towns of Scarborough, Pickering and Whitby in a long distance cycle route. Featuring over 80 miles of forest tracks, lanes, and the former coastal railway, the route can be ridden in stages ranging from easy to more challenging and offers cycle hire on route.

Comprehensive route signage has been installed, but some road signs are missing, particularly between Commondale and Aislaby, so when riding the Moor to Sea, please make regular map checks to avoid unnecessary miles. September 2007

A landslip has forced the closure of a 600 metre long section of the Cycle Route on the old railway line north of Ravenscar on the way to Robin Hood's Bay. Cyclists may use a signed diversion on adjacent tracks, but please ride with care and give way to other users. Scarborough Borough Council hopes to re-open the line as soon as possible. 21 December 2007
